Massage therapy is a great alternative for carpal tunnel syndrome

Monday, July 27th, 2009
If you have ever told your medical doctor that you are suffering from symptoms of carpal tunnel, he or she likely told you to try drugs to manage pain, or even expensive surgery.

However a lot of people are becoming aware of the dangers of prescription and non prescription drugs. Massage therapy can be a safe and effective way to relieve pain from carpal tunnel syndrome.

By choosing massage as your method of relief, you are addressing the cause of your dysfunction. Carpal tunnel is an entrapment of the median nerve as it passes under the transverse carpal ligament into the wrist.

Through a combination of deep tissue massage and stretching, I will be able to address the cause of your carpal tunnel in a way that drugs and surgery can not.

Symptoms include pain, tingling, numbness, in the thumb and first three fingers. Barbers, cooks, musicians, or anyone that works with their hands are most likely to suffer from carpal tunnel syndrome. So make your appointment today if you are suffering from pain!

The Many Benefits of Recieving a Therapeutic Massage in a Health Care Environment

Wednesday, May 13th, 2009
In these tough economic times everyone is concerned with getting the most out of every dollar. I believe the best massage therapy session takes place in a health care environment.

The first reason is time. I offer full one hour sessions compared to 50 minute sessions that most spas offer.

The second reason is value. I am currently offering a cash plan where you would paybetween 50-60 dollars per session, compared to the 100 dollars you would likely pay at a spa.

The last reason is in a medical environment you would never be required to tip me for the massage therapy session, where as in a spa tips are expected and sometimes built into the price.

This is why I feel strongly that the best value and most benefits for massage therapy are experienced in a health care enviroment.

If you are overweight, feel sluggish,or have a lack of energy, you are in need of a colon cleanse.
A colon cleanse will help remove toxins that are trapped in your colon walls. It will help speed up your metabolism, and even lose a few pounds.

Magnet and copper bracelets

Monday, June 1st, 2009
A lot of people ask me “what can I do between massage therapy sessions to manage the pain in my hand and forearm?”
One of the best things that i can recommend is a hematite magnet, and or copper bracelet.
the reason that this is so effective is because copper increases circulation, and therefore alleviates sore muscles, and magnets restore energy flow.
Magnets are effective for carpal tunnel, arthritis, tennis elbow, or just after a long days work. Post a comment about your success stories from wearing magnets for pain relief.

Top Secrets for Achieving Longevity

Wednesday, June 24th, 2009
There have been many studies over the years involving the longest living people on the planet, and how they became so healthy. but lets take a closer look and see exactly what all of these populations have in common.
1. stay active- We have all heard the term use it or lose it, but it really is true. Try to stay active at all costs. If you can walk 2 miles a day when your 50, and continue to do it every day, there is no reason why you will not be able to do it into your 80’s.
2. Find your life purpose- When you love what you do every day, you automatically become a person filled with passion and gusto. This attitude is is contagious to the people around you, and really sets you up for longevity.
3. Take a break in the middle of the day- yes this is a tough one, but the benefits are amazing. When you take a 10 minute break in the middle of the day just to relax and breathe deep you may find that you have a great burst of energy, and even feel more at peace.
4. 80% rule don’t over eat- In Okinawa “where people have achieved the most longevity” they have a rule that you eat until you are 80 percent full. this is with good reason because caloric restriction has shown to increase life span in all animals including humans.
5.Go green- While it is important to eat all food groups, including protein, carbohydrates, and fat to be healthy. You can benefit so much from adding more green food into your diet. All green food is packed with vitamins and minerals, enzymes, and other micro-nutrients that the body needs to perform at optimal levels.
6. Family Matters- Maintaining a close social network with friends, and Family is an essential and often overlooked part of overall health. You cannot disregard the mind body and spirit connection if you ever hope to become truly healthy!

how to properly stretch to maintain health

Monday, June 29th, 2009
stretching is one of the best exercises to do on a daily basis, but it must be done properly.
As a massage therapist I specialize in safe stretching, and proper technique. some stretching can be done by yourself, while others can only be done with the help of a licensed professional.
what ever type of stretching the intention should be to lengthen the muscle as much as possible. Benefits are that it increases flexableity.
It also helps muscles relax and return to their normal length. there are many different types of stretching.
1. ballistic stretching- this is when there is a bouncing action at the end of the stretch. This is not recommended because of the damage it can do to the muscle.
2. Active stretching- This is when a person simply stretches by them self.
3. Passive stretching- is when you are stretched by the therapist.
4.proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation or PNF- this is a technique where the patient and therapist work together, it is described by an isometric contraction followed by a post isometric stretch. this can only be done by a licensed professional

The future of massage therapy is for treatment of chronic pain

Monday, June 15th, 2009
Most people think of massage therapy as a great way to relax, but did you know that massage therapy is being used more and more for recovery from surgery, and relief from chronic pain.
Massage therapy has become very popular in the NFL, Major League Baseball, and most noteably the Olympics, all have massage therapists and other holistic healers working with them, and for good reason.
John Franco long time pitcher for the New York Mets used massage therapy during recovery from major arm surgery at the end of his career.
He claims that he received great releif and faster recovery time from his massage therapy sessions.
John Franco is not alone, even in a down economy massage therapy is expected to grow up until the year 2014, with the majority of the growth in the “medical” or chronic pain market.
As people learn more about massage and the benefits they can receive, it will continue to grow even more.

Ethics are a corner stone of Massage Therapy

Friday, June 5th, 2009
Many people are very interested in receiving a therapeutic massage, but they are concerned with the issue of undressing.
As long as you are dealing with a licensed professional, there is nothing to worry about.
this is because ethics are a key element for becomeing a licensed massage therapist. If you are uncomfortable undressing for your massage, just inform your therapist.
He or she will likely tell you to dress in loose clothing such as sweat pants. this will allow the therapist to do any work nessessaryto help you become pain free again.
If a massage therapist insists on you undressing, they have violated their code of ethics. I beleive that a clients comfort level and privacy should come above anything else.
If you would like a massage therapy session where your comfort level and privacy are the number one priority please call today for your appointment.
